3 NUPE PANELS 19TH CENTURY

Description

These hand carved pieces are made by the Nupe People of Nigeria in the 1920s. These three original pieces are in very good condition with normal signs of age. See detailed pictures for good impressions. This piece is attributed to the above-mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark.

But representational motifs are most commonly used in the carving of door panels, most notably in Lapai (Abuja Emirate) where the carvers of “Sakiwa’s” compound have been instrumental in keeping alive this form of carvingPlease research ,and have a good look at photos  This is not mid 20th copy Tourist made for sale.
