Description
Sepik River hardwood house mask, Papua New Guinea, 20th century, the domed skull above a large forehead with inset cowrie shell eyes, the large slender nose with a long proboscis with shaped terminal, a long beard issuing from the chin, painted decoration in red, white & black, a carved suspension loop verso with natural fiber loop, painted reference number 1755, 52.5cm high; and two other Sepik River house masks, one of oval form with inset cowrie shell eyes and carved decoration heightened in white, 46.5cn high, the other with a slender face and long nose, with incised decoration, 52cm high.
